Wichita High School Southeast

The relocation and reconstruction of Wichita Southeast High School in 2016 was part of a school bond issue passed with the help of Schaefer. At almost a quarter-mile long, the brand-new 330,000 square foot school provides more than enough room to accommodate its 1,800 students while still maintaining room for future growth.

Since studies have shown student learning improves with access to natural light, the project team included a number of large, vast windows in the design to spread light throughout the entire building.

Students benefit from a wide variety of spaces including a technical education atrium, main and auxiliary gymnasiums, an auditorium, a natatorium, a mini-commons, two FEMA storm shelters, and a controlled-access entrance.
